【摘要】:Thisguideisintendedtoillustratethefabricationofultrasonicreferenceblocksthatarerepresentativeoftheproductionmaterialtobeexamined.Careinmaterialselectionandfabricationcanresultinthemanufactureofreferenceblocksthatareultrasonicallysimilartotheproductionmaterialthuseliminatingthereferenceblockasanexaminationvariable.1.1Thisguidecoversgeneralproceduresforthematerialselectionandfabricationofreferenceblocksmadeofmetalormetalalloysandintendedtobeusedfortheexaminationofthesameorsimilarproductionmaterialsbypulsedlongitudinalultrasonicwavesappliedperpendiculartothebeamentrysurface.Primaryemphasisisonsolidmaterialsbutsomeofthetechniquesdescribedmaybeusedformidwallexaminationofpipesandtubesofheavywallthickness.Near-surfaceresolutioninanymaterialdependsuponthecharacteristicsoftheinstrumentandsearchunitemployed.1.2Thisguidecoversthefabricationofreferenceblocksforusewitheithertheimmersionorthedirect-contactmethodofultrasonicexamination.1.3Referenceblocksfabricatedinaccordancewiththisguidecanbeusedtodetermineproperultrasonicexaminationsystemoperation.Area-amplitudeanddistance-amplitudecurvescanalsobedeterminedwiththesereferenceblocks.1.4Thisguidedoesnotspecifyreferencereflectorsizesorproductrejectionlimits.Itdoesdescribetypicalindustryfabricationpracticesandcommonlyappliedtoleranceswheretheylendclaritytotheguide.Inallcasesofconflictbetweenthisguideandcustomerspecifications,thecustomerspecificationshallprevail.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
